About The Position
Responsible for removing masking tape and paper from the mold surface in a specific order and timing between various gel coat spray applications. This role involves preparing the mold for subsequent spray coats by removing tape at the correct time based on gel coat curing, cleaning gel coat stripe lines, inspecting coverage, and assisting with painting and mold movement. The position also requires maintaining a safe and clean work area.
Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds
- Pushing and pulling molds
- Requires standing and walking
- Repeated bending and stretching
- Ability to distinguish colors
- Depth perception
- Detailed manipulation with fingers and hands
Responsibilities
- Remove portions of tape from mold surfaces at the correct time as determined by curing of the gel coat to prepare for the next spray coat.
- Clean the gel coat stripe lines by using a gel coat knife to prepare the mold for the next color.
- Inspect the stripe areas for gel coat and flake coverage and if needed apply more gel coat or flake with a paint brush.
- Decks are hand painted around the boxes, seats, and areas that are hard to reach by the gel coaters.
- Assist in moving molds in and out of the gel coat booths and in and out of the gel coat department.
- Assist in cleaning the mold surface.
- Keep work area safe, clean, and hazard free.
