About The Position

The Tang Guides program re-envisions visitor services at the museum. Tang Guides work alongside students and full-time staff at the Visitor Services Desk, functioning as gallery ambassadors and tour guides. They are an integral part of the front-line visitor services team, ensuring positive experiences for all patrons. This is a part-time position.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge and appreciation of art/art history, especially contemporary art.
  • Past customer service or receptionist/front desk experience.

Responsibilities

  • Staffing the museum’s Visitor Services Desk, including answering the main museum phone line, checking in visitors, and performing other administrative tasks.
  • Serving as roaming docents in the galleries to provide visitors with additional information about the Tang and specific exhibitions.
  • Providing security in the exhibitions by maintaining the safety of the artwork and ensuring visitors follow museum and exhibition requirements.
  • Offering tours of the museum to individuals and groups upon request.
  • Attending regular training workshops and tours, both in-person and via Zoom.
  • Interacting with curators and artists to gain greater insight into Tang exhibitions.
