About The Position

Join GitHub’s Talent Acquisition team as a Talent Strategist, where you will play a critical role in identifying, attracting, and hiring top talent to support hiring objectives and fuel company growth. In this role, you will partner closely with business leaders to interpret hiring needs and design recruiting strategies that balance immediate demand with long-term pipeline development. You will drive sourcing and pipeline strategy by building and engaging targeted talent pools through advanced search techniques, while preparing candidates for interviews in close partnership with Talent Partners and hiring teams. Leveraging deep knowledge of talent markets and candidate profiles, you will align sourcing efforts to both immediate hiring needs and long-term talent priorities. As a strategic advisor, you will implement and scale best practices across sourcing, assessment, and selection, while coaching others on effective tools and frameworks. You will also apply a strong understanding of recruiting policies, processes, and compliance standards to educate stakeholders and ensure consistency across the hiring lifecycle.

Requirements

  • 4+ years experience in talent acquisition, human resources, or related field OR Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business, Liberal Arts, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field AND 2+ years experience in talent acquisition, human resources, or related field OR equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of sourcing experience within a high-volume, fast-paced technology organization supporting multiple concurrent roles and stakeholders.
  • Experience using LinkedIn Recruiter and advanced Boolean search techniques to identify and engage talent.
  • Experience developing and executing sourcing strategies to produce high-quality pipelines of passive talent using an ATS, LinkedIn Recruiter, and creative sourcing channels (e.g., GitHub, technical communities, forums, and networks).

  • Experience sourcing top talent for roles across multiple countries, navigating global hiring processes and compliance.
  • Fluency in using data and signals to inform sourcing strategy, including interpreting talent market trends, outreach performance, and candidate behavior to continuously improve pipeline quality.
  • Exceptional written communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to craft highly personalized, compelling outreach that resonates with technical audiences and drives strong engagement and response rates.
  • Experience partnering with senior leaders across distributed, global teams and time zones to drive alignment and hiring outcomes.
  • Experience/Familiarity with iCIMS ATS.

Responsibilities

  • Identifies differentiated and alternative types of talent (e.g., compete, diverse, nontraditional) that may not be typically considered, and provides recommendations to businesses or entities.
  • Identifies current and future talent needs through opportunistic exploration and analysis of market demands, and helps consult leaders to create new roles that bring in desired talent.
  • Elicits interest in active and potential candidates by storytelling, and contributes to the development of new stories. Spreads awareness through community outreach events and strategic networking.
  • Implements best practices on sourcing, recruiting, and/or closing techniques and stories. Tracks candidate activity and shares with internal stakeholders.
  • Informs key points of GitHub's unique career possibilities, advantages, and rewards that are distinct from those of competitors.
  • Uses an understanding of talent markets and candidate profiles, as well as growing relationships with new talent pools and communities with future potential, to identify and engage candidates for immediate and future talent needs.
  • May help develop strategies to generate differentiated talent in emerging roles or highly competitive talent pools to meet long-term business needs.
  • Executes initial screening and assessing of candidates. Independently qualifies talent pool by assessing relevant factors such as ability to hire, relocation considerations, immigration, and compensation.
  • Maintains current documentation on candidates’ qualifications and status in the appropriate recruiting or tracking system, within compliance guidelines (e.g., Office of Federal Compliance Programs, General Data Protection Regulation).
  • Educates and captures relevant data and performs analyses to inform meaningful insights.
  • Analyzes and interprets external market data, and provides market analysis and data insights to the business to inform hiring plans and implement talent acquisition strategies and initiatives (location, talent availability, compensation, diversity, etc.).
  • Crafts and delivers tailored sourcing strategy using market analysis and data insights.
