About The Position

This part-time developmental Talent role provides a unique opportunity for a Mille Lacs Band Member to gain hands on experience in Talent Acquisition, Associate onboarding, Talent operations, and organizational development while building a long-term career pathway within Grand Casinos. As the Talent Specialist – Band Member Development, you will serve as the welcoming face and voice of the Talent Department. This role plays an important part in creating first impressions for candidates, guests, leaders, and associates by supporting the Talent front desk, answering phones, greeting visitors, coordinating interviews, and assisting with onboarding and Talent processes. You will contribute meaningful work from day one while receiving mentorship, structured development, and exposure to multiple areas within Talent, including Talent Acquisition, onboarding, training coordination, systems administration, and Associate engagement. This role is intentionally designed to help develop future Talent professionals and organizational leaders. Many previous Talent Coordinators have successfully advanced into other positions throughout Grand Casino, making this an excellent opportunity for someone looking to grow professionally while supporting the Mille Lacs Band community and organizational culture.

Requirements

  • Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe Band Member, Descendant or Other American Indian.
  • Previous customer service, hospitality, administrative, front desk, or office experience preferred.
  • Interest in Talent, Human Resources, Talent Acquisition, Learning & Development, or organizational support functions preferred.
  • Professional presence with the ability to interact confidently with candidates, leaders, and Associates.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Comfortable using computers and learning new systems and technology.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Strong guest service mindset with the ability to create welcoming experiences for others.
  • Demonstrates initiative, curiosity, and willingness to learn and grow professionally.
  • Must be able to secure and maintain a Gaming Regulatory Authority (GRA) license.
  • Responsible for following all relevant Detailed Gaming Regulations (DGRs).

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the first point of contact for candidates, guests, leaders, and Associates visiting the Talent office.
  • Welcome visitors with professionalism, warmth, and strong guest service.
  • Answer and direct incoming Talent department phone calls.
  • Assist candidates with applications, interview arrivals, onboarding questions, and general inquiries.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming front office environment.
  • Support walk-in candidate traffic and provide a positive candidate experience throughout the hiring process.
  • Coordinate and schedule in-person, virtual, and phone interviews between candidates and hiring leaders.
  • Assist with hiring events, recruitment initiatives, and community outreach opportunities.
  • Support candidate communications including confirmations, follow-ups, onboarding instructions, and disposition notices.
  • Assist with background checks, pre-employment processes, and onboarding coordination.
  • Enter and maintain candidate information within the Applicant Tracking System (ATS).
  • Assist with position requisitions and Talent Acquisition administrative processes.
  • Support onboarding logistics and scheduling for New Hire Orientation.
  • Coordinate new hire communications, start dates, and onboarding preparation.
  • Enter and maintain Associate information within HRIS and ATS systems.
  • Conduct new hire follow-up touchpoints and assist with Associate support processes.
  • Maintain Talent records, schedules, and administrative documentation.
  • Support Talent team initiatives, projects, and department activities as assigned.
  • Assist with scheduling training sessions, Talent meetings, and development activities.
  • Coordinate training materials, attendance tracking, and communications.
  • Support Learning Specialists with logistics for Talent and organizational development programs.
  • Gain exposure to Talent Acquisition, Learning & Development, onboarding, and Talent operations functions.
  • Participate in a structured developmental experience designed to build Talent and leadership capabilities.
  • Gain exposure to multiple career pathways within Talent and Grand Casino operations.
  • Build professional communication, organizational, customer service, and administrative skills.
  • Partner with Talent team members and leaders for mentorship and development opportunities.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts that strengthen the Associate and candidate experience.
