About The Position

Destination Pet is seeking a Talent and People Programs Manager to own and administer programs that support the company's people strategy. This includes annual performance management, compensation governance, enterprise talent programs, and analytics. The role requires hands-on experience in HR program management, partnering with executive leadership and business leaders to administer and shape critical programs. The position is remote within the US, with a preference for candidates in Dallas or Denver, and involves 10% travel.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of HR experience directly owning or administering enterprise people programs (performance management, compensation, talent/succession programs, or people analytics).
  • Experience running an annual or mid-year performance management cycle end-to-end — timelines, system administration, communications, and reporting.
  • Experience supporting compensation governance — job architecture, leveling, salary structures, or market benchmarking — or close partnership with a Total Rewards/Compensation function.
  • Experience building reporting or dashboards that surface organizational trends (engagement, performance, compensation, or talent) for leadership audiences.
  • Proven ability to partner cross-functionally, including directly with executive leadership, to drive programs forward without relying on formal authority.
  • Highly organized, with strong attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Comfortable working independently in a remote environment, including flexibility to meet with leadership across time zones — occasionally outside standard business hours.
  • Willingness and ability to use AI tools to maximize productivity and efficiency.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Workday
  • Experience with project management tools (Asana, Smartsheet, monday.com, MS Project, or similar)
  • Experience in a multi-state, multi-unit organization with a high volume of hourly employees (e.g., hospitality, healthcare, or retail)
  • PMP, CAPM, Agile/Scrum, or compensation (CCP) certification
  • Experience at a mid-sized company (2,000–5,000 employees)

Responsibilities

  • Lead administration of enterprise talent programs, including career pathing, succession planning, leadership development initiatives, and other strategic people programs.
  • Partner with the Operations team to align development programs with company priorities.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve enterprise people processes through data, feedback, and industry best practices.
  • Own and administer the company's annual and mid-year performance management cycles.
  • Manage performance review timelines, communications, system administration, reporting, and completion tracking.
  • Partner with leaders to continuously improve the performance management process and employee experience.
  • Develop reporting and analytics that provide leadership insight into organizational performance trends.
  • Facilitate calibration sessions and succession-planning conversations with leadership, including assessing bench strength for critical roles.
  • Administer and maintain the organization's compensation philosophy and governance framework.
  • Partner with executive leadership to manage job architecture, job leveling, salary structures, bonus tiers, and market pricing.
  • Support annual compensation planning and organizational design initiatives.
  • Develop dashboards, reporting, and metrics that provide executive leadership with visibility into organizational people health.
  • Analyze trends across engagement, performance, compensation, and talent programs to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
