About The Position

At Karis Disability Services, the Talent Acquisition Manager plays a vital role in identifying and attracting direct support professionals who align with the organization's values, vision, and mission. This position is responsible for shaping a dynamic workforce dedicated to making a meaningful impact in supporting people with developmental disabilities. The role embraces the Christian Faith Foundation of the organization and ensures that the Christian ethos, Values, Vision, and Mission permeate job responsibilities. The Talent Acquisition Manager works within their communities and in coordination with the Human Resource Department and the District Leadership Team, ensuring adequate and qualified staff and volunteers are recruited through established recruitment and selection processes. Key initiatives include preparing and delivering presentations to promote opportunities, developing relationships with educational institutions for talent pipelines and student placement programs, developing recruitment strategies for a diverse workforce, and planning and executing job fairs.

Requirements

  • 1-2 years of previous experience in a related position
  • Experience recruiting within a unionized environment, with knowledge of collective agreement requirements and seniority-based hiring practices.
  • College Diploma in Human Resources
  • Human Resources Professional designation (CHRP, CHRL) required
  • Networking and Relationship Building skills
  • Ability to manage multiple and competing projects
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills
  • Maintain knowledge of provincial Occupational Health & Safety legislation, the Act respecting Employment Standards, provincial regulatory requirements and the Human Rights Code.
  • G-Driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Provides guidance, education, and recommendations on activities related to the full cycle of recruitment.
  • Works within established recruitment and selection processes to ensure adequate and qualified staff and volunteers are recruited.
  • Predicts, plans, advertises, coordinates, and participates in selection activities to ensure consistent and accountable recruitment strategies are implemented.
  • Prepares and delivers presentations promoting volunteer and employment opportunities to various stakeholders.
  • Develops strong relationships and networking opportunities with educational institutions to establish a talent pipeline and create/maintain a student placement program.
  • Develops recruitment strategies and networks to promote a diverse workforce.
  • Plans and executes in-person and virtual job fairs internally and attends external job fairs.
  • Actively sources candidates through networking and electronic platforms.
  • Responds to recruitment inquiries from internal and external parties.
  • Works collaboratively with the organizational Recruitment team to make recommendations for improvement, develop new processes, and identify efficiencies.
  • Receives job vacancies and creates internal and external job postings.
  • Responds promptly to applicants, receives and reviews resumes, and selects candidates for screening.
  • Manages the entire recruitment process, including scheduling interviews, conducting background checks, and extending offers.
  • Receives applications and manages the awarding of contracts in accordance with seniority and union requirements where collective agreements exist.
  • Coordinates on-site assessment/2nd interview with the hiring manager, equipping them to present Expectations of Employees.
  • Receives and evaluates required Vulnerable Sector Checks, Standard Police Checks, driver records, and immunization dates.
  • Tracks candidate information at each recruitment stage into the appropriate database and tracks vacant contracts and relief needs.
  • Produces reports on recruitment to District leadership.
  • Tracks successful hire rates from various sources to determine future practices.
  • Receives, reviews, tracks, and authorizes staff referrals.
