About The Position

The Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (VDACS), Office of Human Resources, is hiring an experienced, detail-oriented, customer-focused human resources professional to provide advanced HR services in a high-volume, fast-paced office supporting more than 600 salaried employees. The role covers talent acquisition, classification and compensation, training and development, and policy development and interpretation related to talent acquisition. Talent acquisition work includes assisting with requests to fill positions, posting jobs, screening applicants, preparing interview documents and advising hiring teams, reviewing finalist hiring packets, completing verifications such as driving records and degree checks, representing the agency at career fairs, and ensuring recruitment policies and procedures are followed within the Commonwealth’s time-to-fill goal. Classification and compensation work includes researching and completing classification audits for new and existing positions, assisting managers with position descriptions and physical demand worksheets, and conducting salary analyses for new and existing employees. The position serves as backup to the HR Administrative Analyst and participates in developing and delivering training, as well as developing and interpreting policies for assigned functional areas. The employee may be asked to provide office coverage until 5:00 p.m. and travel on day or overnight trips to other VDACS offices for training or career fairs; travel may also include weekends. After onboarding and training, telework may be available for up to two days per week, subject to approval under Commonwealth policy.
