About The Position

Ready to suit up as a Tactical Campus Security Guard. What matters most in a role like this is your ability to read the environment, anticipate risk and act accordingly. Your keen sense of observation and strong social skills are your greatest strengths. As a Tactical Security Guard, physical ability is essential as you will be moving around your entire shift, patrolling a post-secondary institution.

Requirements

Be authorized to work in Canada
Hold a valid Ontario security guard license
Ability to stand and walk throughout shift
Must have WSIB approved Standard First Aid and CPR level C certification
Be a self-starter with strong initiative
Will have a proven ability to assist and support personnel and divisions.
Be able to organize and prioritize multiple tasks & responsibilities.

Responsibilities

Patrol critical areas to spot any suspicious activity
Check identification and control access to secure areas
React quickly to threats or incidents and document actions taken
Check the proper functioning of alarms and cameras
Handle alarms and conduct on-site checks
Partner with law enforcement during serious incidents
Proactively patrol the University campus situated in the downtown core.
Respond to and document security occurrences, violations, hazards, suspicious activities, maintenance-related problems and other related duties as assigned.
Participate in on-scene emergency response.
Interpret and enforce the Criminal Code of Canada, Trespass to Property Act of Ontario and University regulations.
Work with the community on safety planning and community engagement initiatives.
Patrol in uniform by foot, bike or vehicle.
Work with and interact positively in a dynamic team atmosphere based on the principles of Community Policing.
Liaise and build relationships with the community and stakeholders to help foster community engagement.
