About The Position

This position produces plastic products through a tableting process based on customer requirements and at an established production rate. The operator runs the tableting machine and performs production, inspection, packing, recordkeeping, housekeeping, and material-identification tasks. The tableting process includes filling the die cavity with powder, metering the powder to achieve uniform tablet weight, compressing the powder to determine tablet hardness, and ejecting the finished tablet.

Responsibilities

• Operate the tableting machine at the established production rate.
• Inspect parts for conformance to customer specifications and record results as needed.
• Pack finished parts according to specific packing instructions.
• Keep production and scrap records up to date according to work instructions and procedures.
• Clean the work area at shift end or job completion and follow 5S requirements.
• Assist with problem solving and corrective actions for customer-generated issues or initial corrective actions.
• Ensure proper identification of all materials, including manufactured product, hoppers, grinders, and material containers.
• Ensure powder flows from the hopper into the feed frame and settles into the die cavity atop the punch.
• Meter powder by adjusting the punch to a preset fill depth and removing excess powder to ensure uniform tablet weight.
• Compress powder between punches inside the die using compression rolls; the applied force determines tablet hardness.
• Eject finished tablets from the die cavity so they can be swept down the discharge chute.
