Systems Integration Engineer III

Agility Robotics•Fremont, CA
•$115,000 - $179,000•Hybrid

About The Position

Agility Robotics is seeking a Systems Integration Engineer to join its Systems Integration team in the SF Bay Area. The team works at the boundaries between functions, evaluating intended and unintended emergent system behaviors. The engineer will own integration of an assigned robotic subsystem from planning through bring-up and hand-off, independently drive root-cause analysis within that scope, deliver trusted configurations and documentation to partner teams, and help improve integration tools and processes. The role includes planning subsystem integration, reviewing requirements and interface control documents (ICDs) for risks and gaps, tracking progress, bringing up subsystems and integrating them into complete humanoid systems, verifying hardware/software interfaces, running functional tests, documenting tested configurations and residual risks, and commissioning assets for internal customers. The engineer will also lead subsystem issue triage and root-cause analysis, collaborate across mechanical, electrical, software, engineering, and manufacturing teams, document findings and knowledge for partner teams, improve team workflows, and mentor junior engineers and technicians. This is a hybrid position based out of the Salem, Oregon, or Fremont, California, office. The anticipated salary range is $115,000–$179,000 USD. Applicants must have current authorization to work in the United States. The role is U.S.-based.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with at least 3 years of experience, or a Master’s degree with at least 1 year of experience, in systems integration, test, hardware bring-up, or related R&D functions on electromechanical, mechatronic, or robotic systems.
  • Breadth of experience with systems that include mechanical, electrical, and software components, with deeper fundamentals in at least two of these areas.
  • Demonstrated ownership of a subsystem or project through bring-up, testing, and issue resolution.
  • Track record of independently driving multi-domain issues to root cause.
  • Hands-on proficiency with lab instrumentation, debug tools, and data logging.
  • Ability to read and write code for testing, data analysis, and tooling; Python is preferred.
  • Ability to read schematics, drawings, and interface documentation.
  • Experience designing and running engineering tests and analyzing results.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, or Systems Engineering, Robotics, or a related field.
  • Current authorization to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with EtherCAT, git, actuators and motor control, embedded compute, or power systems.
  • Experience in robotics, autonomous vehicles, aerospace, or other safety-critical domains.

Responsibilities

  • Author integration plans for an assigned subsystem, including integration phases, functional tests, and required tooling.
  • Review requirements, ICDs, and other design inputs to identify integration risks and gaps before hardware arrives.
  • Track integration work and status for partner teams and leads.
  • Execute bring-up of new subsystems and support their integration into full humanoid robotic systems.
  • Verify hardware/software interfaces and run functional tests, monitoring for unintended emergent behaviors.
  • Document tested configurations and commission functional assets for internal customers.
  • Capture integration results and residual risks in clear, actionable reports.
  • Own issue triage and root-cause analysis within the assigned subsystem, using structured problem-solving and data analysis.
  • Participate in cross-functional debugging across mechanical, electrical, and software teams.
  • Document and hand off root causes to design teams.
  • Communicate integration status, risks, and findings to engineering and manufacturing audiences.
  • Create documentation that transfers integration knowledge to partner teams and helps prevent recurring issues.
  • Propose and implement improvements to team tools, templates, and workflows.
  • Mentor junior engineers and technicians in systematic troubleshooting and integration practices.
