About The Position

The primary role of the Supervisor, Enterprise Systems Engineering (ENSE) is to lead the Systems Engineers as they provide technical assistance to both internal and external customers. The ENSE Supervisor will ensure the team supports all commercial objectives set by the Field Sales and Commercial Marketing groups. The Supervisor will ensure all daily task are completed on time and delegate tasks when required. This individual will be responsible for all hiring and training of new Systems Engineers and provide guidance in the ENSEs professional development. The Supervisor will provide monthly/yearly accomplishments to senior Engineering Services Leadership and will act as a champion for ENSE and ES to COC Senior Leadership. Corning's Optical Communications segment has evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry. This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in a technical field from a recognized college or university, preferably BS in Engineering such Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, or Civil, but may consider other STEM degrees such as Physics, Math, Computer Science, etc. with the appropriate and relevant level of experience
  • 3+ years of experience in Telecommunications, particularly fiber optic networks and structured cabling
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Corning’s passive optical cabling products and how and where they are deployed in a local area network and data center
  • Knowledge of Optical Fiber Theory
  • Knowledge of data center communications processing equipment, pathways, and spaces
  • Prior supervisory / functional management experience or training

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all support requests, both internal and external, are fulfilled in a timely manner and assigned to appropriately qualified Systems Engineers
  • Manage Salesforce.com data entry for Engineer activities
  • Continuously evaluate processes for Systems Engineer support to determine potential improvements both internally and externally
  • Identify and provide professional development opportunities for Systems Engineers
  • Identify and track metrics and communicate team performance to management
  • Develop Systems Engineers into Corning talent that is desirable to other COC teams
  • Performs the duties of a technical expert reviewing completed Systems Engineer tasks to include technical specifications, optical system designs, bills of material, and presentations
