About The Position

This position is an internship for Summer 2027 at RTX, a leading aerospace and defense company. The intern will join the Systems Engineering and Test Capabilities (SETC) organization in Tucson, AZ. SETC focuses on designing, developing, and testing innovative solutions. The intern will experience the Systems engineering life cycle, interacting with various engineering disciplines, subject matter experts, chief engineers, chief technologists, and customers to ensure systems are designed, integrated, and tested effectively for warfighters. This is an onsite role.

Requirements

  • Must be pursuing a BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) degree.
  • Must have a minimum of 60 hours of credit by the start of the internship / co-op session.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • Academic or internship experience that included hands-on testing of electronic equipment.
  • Exposure to troubleshooting technical issues with electronics in an academic or internship setting, or as part of a hobby.
  • Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects.
  • Prior RTX internship experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience troubleshooting systems using test equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, network analyzers, and/or spectrum analyzers.
  • Experience with using telemetry data collection equipment to capture real time data and/or real time monitoring.
  • Experience with electrical schematics, interface control documentation, and communications protocols.
  • Experience with reading and integrating software routines with hardware/electronics; C/C++/C# preferred.
  • Experience with instrumentation and collection of large data sets, including the application of scripting or automation to data collection and analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Test Planning: Develop and implement test plans, procedures, integration, and verification documentation in both simulated and real-world environments and perform/execute the testing.
  • Integrate Systems: Collaborate with multi-disciplinary team to integrate hardware and software into tactical systems, evaluating their functionality and impact. Evaluate test results for requirements compliance.
  • Create/modify documentation in support of design reviews and in preparation for test events.
  • Perform Platform Integration, Flight Test, Qualification, Design Verification Execution.
  • Troubleshoot and Analyze: Identify and resolve hardware, software, and system issues through detailed data analysis and debugging.
  • Perform Data Analysis: Conduct statistical and numerical analysis test data to ensure optimal system performance and verify requirements.
  • Support Missions: Travel as needed to support mission execution at various locations including local RTX facilities, test sites, vendor facilities, and customer locations.
