About The Position

Rendezvous Robotics is hiring a Manufacturing and Test Engineering Intern for Summer 2027 in Golden, Colorado, for a 12–15 week internship. The company is developing electromagnetic self-assembling tiles: modular spacecraft components that rendezvous, dock, and latch to assemble larger spacecraft. The team works across hardware, software, and systems engineering and is pursuing a path from flight demonstration to operational systems. The intern will help manufacture and test spacecraft tile subsystems, including power, docking, and communication interfaces. The role includes developing testbeds and procedures, building fixtures and test jigs, investigating manufacturing defects, and supporting consistent test data collection across builds. Applicants must meet applicable U.S. Government export-control requirements: be a U.S. citizen or national, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee, or be eligible to obtain the required U.S. Department of State authorizations. Rendezvous Robotics is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • Comfortable using hand tools, performing basic soldering, and assembling hardware.
  • Attention to detail and comfort working from written test procedures.
  • Meet the stated U.S. Government export-control eligibility requirements, or be eligible to obtain required authorizations.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with battery pack assembly or handling lithium-ion cells.
  • Familiarity with environmental test equipment such as thermal chambers and vibration tables.
  • Background in test automation or data logging using Python, LabVIEW, or similar tools.
  • Quality or manufacturing process experience, including experience outside aerospace.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and own testbeds used to manufacture and test subsystems, including power, docking, and communication interfaces.
  • Support spacecraft tile manufacturing by creating work procedures and identifying optimizations.
  • Build and refine fixtures and test jigs for repeatable hardware verification.
  • Track and troubleshoot manufacturing defects and feed findings back into design.
  • Help build test data pipelines so results are captured consistently across builds.
