Systems Engineer - Journeyman

Applied Research Solutions•Bedford, MA
•$140,000 - $154,000

About The Position

Applied Research Solutions is seeking a full-time Systems Engineer at Hanscom AFB in Bedford, Massachusetts. The role supports program and project systems engineering across acquisition, development, integration, sustainment, deployment, installation, and operations oversight. The engineer reviews program portfolios and proposed plans, maintains technical baselines, and designs or performs system-level testing to verify performance against approved specifications and program requirements. The position also involves preparing technical documentation and management reports, conducting technical presentations, validating systems, analyzing engineering results, and supporting risk management in compliance with Air Force SEAM processes. The engineer applies systems engineering methods—including trade-space and cost-versus-capability analysis, MODA, set-based design, and science and technology roadmap analysis—and supports Digital Engineering, Digital Thread, and Digital Twin techniques across the system lifecycle. Additional work includes configuration and data management, security and technical integration, interface management, requirements analysis, capability assessments, COTS/GOTS evaluations, modeling and simulation, and engineering performance, cost-effectiveness, reliability, and risk studies. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation, including criminal history and identity checks. The expected annual salary range is $140,000–$154,000, depending on the role and responsibilities, experience, qualifications, education and training, and skills.
