About The Position

The Bloomberg Enterprise Application Systems team within the Bloomberg Engineering Department administers, engineers and operates enterprise applications that support Bloomberg’s internal business functions. The team primarily manages third-party enterprise applications across on-premise and cloud environments, supporting areas including Accounting, Supply Chain and Workplace Operations. It works with application development, database, Linux, Windows, networking, security and infrastructure teams to deliver secure, highly available enterprise application services. As a Systems Engineer, you will take technical ownership of enterprise application platforms throughout their lifecycle. A key responsibility is administering Bloomberg’s PeopleSoft environment, which supports North American Payroll. PeopleSoft will account for approximately half of the role; you will also cross-train and take ownership of other third-party enterprise applications, both on-premise and in the cloud. You will administer PeopleSoft, including installation and configuration, upgrades, patching, environment management, monitoring, troubleshooting, security, integrations and production support. You will help design and maintain reliable, resilient systems through redundancy, backup and recovery, disaster recovery capabilities and operational procedures. You will identify potential points of failure, improve recoverability and help ensure applications continue operating through infrastructure and application failures. You will monitor vendor and internal security advisories, assess vulnerabilities and implement required patches, upgrades or other remediations. You will also manage application security components, including authentication and access controls, certificates and secrets, network connectivity and secure integrations. As the application portfolio evolves, you will develop expertise in new platforms and apply sound practices in administration, security, integration, automation, monitoring, resilience and lifecycle management.
