About The Position

The Systems Application Engineer ensures data-centric and enterprise support applications run smoothly and reliably. The role covers application installation, configuration, patching, maintenance, performance monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimization. The engineer works collaboratively with stakeholders and internal teams to understand business needs, provide technical guidance, resolve complex challenges, and mentor junior team members. The position supports data flow, messaging, search, and workflow platforms and contributes to system design, documentation, and improvements in efficiency and performance. The employer provides training and development opportunities and does not require a particular degree.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of hands-on experience installing, configuring, and supporting data management, messaging, and administration tools.
• Strong expertise in Linux and Windows server administration.
• Comfort working with RabbitMQ, Elasticsearch, NiFi, Kafka, Camunda, or similar technologies.
• Ability to manage projects, balance multiple priorities, and keep complex work organized and on track.
• Systems-thinking approach, including investigating root causes and developing data-informed solutions.
• Clear communication skills and ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical partners.
• Interest in learning new technologies and staying current on trends in project management and application support.
• Ability to combine big-picture thinking with hands-on problem solving.
• Ability to influence and motivate others without formal authority and remain optimistic when navigating challenges.
• Consistent and dependable approach to completing work.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, patch, and maintain critical business and data applications.
• Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize scalability for increasing data volumes and usage.
• Own complex technical challenges from start to finish, coordinating with vendors and internal teams to achieve reliable outcomes.
• Partner with teams across the organization to understand business processes and translate needs into effective application configurations.
• Support data flow, messaging, search, and workflow platforms such as RabbitMQ, Elasticsearch, NiFi, Kafka, and Camunda.
• Plan, organize, and document complex system designs in line with company standards and best practices.
• Stay current on emerging tools and technologies and propose solutions that improve efficiency and system performance.
• Mentor junior team members and provide technical guidance.
• Contribute as needed to support a collaborative team culture, excluding licensed tasks.
