About The Position

Salesforce is seeking a techno-functional Systems Engineer focused on security architecture and administration across Workday HCM and Workday Financials within IT Finance and Employee Success. The role bridges technical and functional delivery and includes requirements elaboration, configuration, testing, compliance, sprint-level delivery, and post-production validation. The engineer is expected to work with minimal supervision and use integration awareness to assess technical complexity and feasibility. A strong understanding of the Workday security framework is required. The position involves translating product use cases into technical requirements and user stories; configuring assigned platforms; evaluating design tradeoffs and build-versus-buy options; leading UAT and regression testing; and coordinating with business stakeholders and integration engineers. The engineer also manages platform release activities, performs configuration peer reviews, owns SOX IT Application Control mechanics for assigned systems, contributes to basic AI/Agent tasks, and supports production triage and root cause analysis.

  • Experience conducting peer reviews of configuration work.
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum, including backlog refinement and sprint delivery.

  • Experience with version control, code collaboration, and continuous integration systems, such as Git.
  • Exposure to Geo Expansion or M&A system onboarding activities.
  • Experience in SaaS/PaaS architectures and enterprise IT environments.
  • Workday Security Pro certification.

Responsibilities

  • Break down Product Manager-authored use cases and problem statements into technical requirements, user stories, edge cases, and validation rules.
  • Configure assigned platforms, assess design tradeoffs, and document configuration rationale.
  • Assess build-versus-buy feasibility, including technical complexity, integration impact, and effort, and provide recommendations to the Product Manager.
  • Lead UAT for assigned features, including preparing test environments, guiding business SMEs, and coordinating defect triage and resolution for retesting.
  • Write and maintain integration-aware test cases and execute end-to-end regression testing across system boundaries.
  • Identify upstream and downstream integration impacts before development and coordinate with integration engineers.
  • Write release notes describing changes, testing, known impacts, and dependencies.
  • Review configuration work produced by team members and managed service providers.
  • Design and implement Workday security models, analyze impacts, and recommend best practices.
  • Manage periodic platform release implementation for assigned systems.
  • Own SOX IT Application Control mechanics for assigned systems, complete quarterly control certifications, and independently support audit walkthroughs.
  • Participate in backlog refinement and Big Room Planning, ensuring sprint items meet Definition of Ready requirements.
