System Engineer Intern, Summer 2027
About The Position
BAE Systems is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Systems Engineering Intern for its 2027 Summer Internship Program. The intern will work alongside experienced systems engineers on system-level verification for a U.S. Navy weapon system program, supporting mission success and national defense. The role involves conducting system verification using requirements, verification methods, and compliance documentation; supporting the development and maintenance of a Requirements Verification and Traceability Matrix (RVTM); analyzing data and collaborating with engineering teams on requirement verification and validation; and preparing technical documentation, presentations, data packages, and white papers. The intern will participate in BAE Systems’ nationwide LEAP Internship & Co-op Program (Learn, Engage, Apply, and Progress), which offers work on impactful projects, career development opportunities, and networking with business leaders and fellow students.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program in Systems, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Must complete junior year before Summer 2027.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 10%.
Nice To Haves
- GPA of 3.0 or higher is highly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Conduct system verification activities using requirements, verification methods, and compliance documentation.

- Perform data analysis and collaborate with engineering teams to support requirement verification and validation.
