Systems Engineer II -AMDT3 Satellite Ground Systems

Sierra Space•Centennial, CO
•$94,090 - $129,395

About The Position

The Systems Engineer II contributes to the development and implementation of advanced ground system solutions for the Space Development Agency's Accelerated Missile Defense Tranche 3 (AMDT3) program. The role helps align and guide technical teams through a fast-paced, mission-critical development lifecycle, representing the integrated system perspective and connecting segments and subsystems through requirements decomposition, traceability, and system validation and verification. The engineer supports delivery of a compliant, cohesive ground system on an aggressive schedule, tracking performance measures and identifying technical risks early. The position specifies, architects, and integrates complex ground system solutions in collaboration with cross-functional teams, government stakeholders, and subject matter experts. Responsibilities include deriving and managing requirements and architectures, defining ground-to-space concepts of operation, preparing development milestone review artifacts, and participating in integration and verification activities. The engineer helps manage technical risks and mitigation strategies, contributes to continuous improvement, follows established engineering processes and standards, and communicates proactively with stakeholders. The role requires a firm grasp of systems engineering principles and developing expertise in requirements management, architecture, concept of operations, integration, and verification. Exposure to ground system elements interfacing with the space segment is beneficial.
