About The Position

Kaiva Tech, LLC is seeking a Systems Administrator to support the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in Rockville/Silver Spring, Maryland. This project involves translating business needs into technology solutions for FDA's public-facing web environment, providing administration, infrastructure support, and strategic planning. The FDA.gov website is a critical component of the FDA's mission, handling a large volume of traffic and data. The current Content Management System (CMS) is built on Drupal, supporting over 65,000 documents and pages with more than 600 active contributors. This role requires an experienced systems administrator capable of working independently, troubleshooting complex infrastructure issues, implementing secure enterprise solutions, and supporting highly classified operational environments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or other related technical discipline
  • 10+ years of related experience in systems administration or IT operations
  • Experience with Linux, SOLR search, and ElasticSearch, including installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and maintenance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Akamai CDN services and Drupal website hosting platforms (e.g., Acquia) is desired.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support for implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of IT systems and cloud services hosted in AWS. Primary systems include Drupal CMS hosted on a LAMP stack.
  • Manage and maintain IT system infrastructure, services, and processes related to client, server, storage, network devices and mobile devices.
  • Perform help desk support, including problem identification, diagnosis, and resolution.
  • Analyze and resolve complex problems associated with server hosts, applications and software integration.
  • Optimize system operations and resource utilization; perform capacity analysis and system planning.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain system integrity and network components.
  • Provide detailed analysis and feedback to management and internal customers on escalated issues.
  • Support the design of system architectures and associated hardware.
  • Configure and manage Linux and other applicable operating systems, including installs/patching of operating system software, troubleshooting, maintaining integrity of and configure network components, and implementation of operating systems enhancements to improve reliability and performance.
  • Support the design of systems, mission architecture and associated hardware.
  • Possess a working knowledge and understanding of system administration interdependencies as part of the Service Oriented Architecture (SOA).
