The Systems Administrator is responsible for managing and maintaining enterprise IT systems, ensuring the availability, reliability, and security of infrastructure across the organization. In addition to system administration duties, this role also provides technical support to resolve helpdesk issues and ensure high levels of user satisfaction and productivity.

Requirements

  • Must be able to be onsite in Windsor Mill, MD, 5 days a week
  • 3–5+ years of experience in system administration and helpdesk support.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, Exchange/O365, DNS, DHCP, and group policy management.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting Tier 2 IT issues across hardware, software, and networking.
  • Experience with virtualization platforms and backup solutions.
  • Familiarity with IT ticketing systems and remote support tools.
  • Strong communication skills and a user-focused mindset.

Nice To Haves

  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA, Microsoft, ITIL) are a plus

Responsibilities

  • Administer, maintain, and monitor corporate systems including servers (Windows/Linux), Active Directory, Exchange/O365, and virtualization platforms (VMware/Hyper-V).
  • Perform routine system maintenance, patch management, and backups.
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, and group policies in Active Directory.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve Tier 2 hardware, software, and network issues escalated from the helpdesk.
  • Support onboarding/offboarding processes including provisioning accounts, hardware, and software.
  • Monitor system performance and implement performance tuning and resource optimization.
  • Assist with IT projects, system upgrades, and infrastructure improvements.
  • Maintain documentation for systems, procedures, and configurations.
  • Ensure compliance with IT security policies and assist in audits as required.
  • Provide support for remote users, VPN, and mobile device management (MDM).
