Systems Administrator

Cytek Biosciences IncFremont, CA

About The Position

Cytek Biosciences is looking for a Systems & Network Administrator to own our infrastructure environment — servers, storage, virtualization, and networking. We need someone dedicated to building proactive infrastructure management practices while also serving as the go-to escalation point for network and systems issues. This is a hands-on role. You'll manage our VM environment, maintain our VPN and network infrastructure across multiple sites, and handle server provisioning and storage. You'll work closely with our Information Security Specialist on security-related infrastructure changes and partner with the helpdesk and business systems teams to reduce the operational burden on them and improve service delivery across the organization.

Requirements

  • 10 years of experience in systems administration, network administration, or a combined infrastructure role
  • Strong hands-on experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, and Group Policy
  • Experience managing virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V) and cloud environments (Azure and/or AWS)
  • Solid networking fundamentals — TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, switching, and Wi-Fi
  • Familiarity with backup and disaster recovery tools and practices
  • Ability to manage infrastructure across multiple physical sites
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and a bias toward documenting solutions
  • Comfortable working in a small IT team where you'll need to be both strategic and hands-on

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a life sciences, biotech, or regulated environment
  • Scripting skills (PowerShell, Bash, Python) for automation
  • Experience with Docker or containerized environments
  • Any relevant certifications (CCNA, CompTIA Network+, Microsoft, AWS/Azure)

Responsibilities

  • Administer and maintain Windows and Linux server environments, including virtual machines (VMware/Hyper-V) and cloud resources (Azure, AWS)
  • Manage server provisioning, capacity planning, storage allocation, and decommissioning
  • Own backup and disaster recovery processes, including regular validation and testing
  • Monitor system health, performance, and availability; resolve issues before they become outages
  • Manage and troubleshoot LAN/WAN, Wi-Fi, VPN (Cisco AnyConnect), DNS, DHCP, and switching infrastructure
  • Support multi-site connectivity between Fremont, Seattle, and international offices
  • Handle network access requests, VPN setup, and connectivity issues as an escalation point from the helpdesk
  • Maintain and document network topology, configurations, and access controls
  • Implement firewall and network changes as directed by the Information Security Specialist
  • Administer Active Directory, Group Policy, and user account lifecycle (provisioning, changes, deprovisioning)
  • Manage DUO MFA enrollment and troubleshooting in coordination with the Information Security Specialist on policy configuration
  • Support onboarding and offboarding processes from an infrastructure and access perspective
  • Apply OS and firmware patches to servers, network devices, and infrastructure components on schedules defined in coordination with the Information Security Specialist
  • Maintain patching documentation and change logs
  • Coordinate maintenance windows with stakeholders to minimize business disruption
  • Serve as Tier 2/3 escalation for infrastructure-related helpdesk tickets
  • Reduce reactive ticket volume by implementing monitoring, automation, and self-service solutions
  • Document infrastructure environments, runbooks, and standard operating procedures
  • Partner with the business systems team on integration points (NetSuite, Salesforce, Propel) where infrastructure supports application performance
  • Support the Information Security Specialist during incident response by providing infrastructure access, logs, and system-level remediation as needed
