About The Position

This is an unpaid DoD SkillBridge internship for transitioning active-duty U.S. military personnel in their final 180 days of service. The intern will train as a Systems Administrator, work on meaningful projects, and collaborate with a mentor and senior company leadership. The internship is designed to align with the intern’s knowledge, skills, abilities, education, and military training, and may support transition to a regular, permanent position with Enlighten. Reporting to a designated Enlighten Supervisor, the intern will learn the company’s approach to building, supporting, and maintaining IT systems. Training covers day-to-day operations, monitoring, and troubleshooting for client workstations, internal networks, and cloud infrastructure in a hybrid environment. The four-month target is to develop a basic understanding of systems administration and the critical tasks involved in performing it. The internship requires a hybrid schedule from Enlighten’s local Columbia, Maryland office and availability during core hours for critical meetings and training. The training plan progresses from IT infrastructure and workstation basics to networking, security compliance, cloud infrastructure, containerization, scripting, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
