About The Position

The Systems Administrator Intern assists in maintaining and optimizing server hardware, operating systems, and application software to maximize the availability and performance of business applications and services. The intern performs responsibilities under the oversight of a System Administrator I or higher.

Candidates should have basic knowledge in one or more functional areas: servers and operating systems, including Microsoft Server Systems, PC operating systems, Linux operating systems, and Intel-based server hardware; or TCP/IP networking.

Requirements

• Pursuing an Associate degree or above in a computer-related field from an accredited school.
• Good problem-solving abilities.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Ability and willingness to learn and extend skills.
• Good organizational skills.
• Basic-level or higher knowledge of Microsoft Server Systems, PC operating systems, Linux operating systems, Intel-based server hardware, or TCP/IP networking.

Responsibilities

• Use the ITIL framework for Change, Incident, and Problem Management in support of the production environment.
• Assist with troubleshooting hardware, software, and network connectivity problems.
• Assist in developing relevant documentation.
• Complete training and assignments in a timely and effective manner.
• Apply departmental standards and procedures to assignments and adhere to defined processes and procedures.
• Escalate problems to appropriate personnel as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
