About The Position

SMX is seeking a Mid-Level Systems Administrator to develop, maintain, and update the DIA-provided PRESS Production and Dissemination System organization structure, perform troubleshooting, and coordinate with DIA PRESS developers to implement system updates and changes. The administrator will ensure reliable operations, timely issue resolution, and compliance with DIA standards across the PRESS environment. This is a full-time onsite position in Ft. Meade, MD.

Requirements

  • TS/SCI clearance (Polygraph eligible / must submit if requested)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, System Administration, Computer Networks, or related field (or Associate’s degree combined with enterprise certifications)
  • Current DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (e.g., CompTIA Security+ CE)
  • 3 to 5 years of hands-on systems administration in cloud or hybrid environments, with at least 2 years supporting data pipelines, log aggregation, or Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC)
  • Enterprise administration of Windows Server and Linux operating systems (installation, configuration, and maintenance)
  • Administration of Active Directory (AD), Group Policy Objects (GPOs), and role-based access controls
  • Hands-on experience with virtualization platforms (VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V)
  • Scripting capabilities in PowerShell, Bash, or Python to automate administrative tasks and extract system performance metadata
  • Hardware, OS, storage, and application-layer diagnostics and troubleshooting

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and update DIA provided PRESS Production and Dissemination System organization structure, perform PRESS troubleshooting, and coordinate with DIA PRESS developers to address issues and implement system updates/changes.
  • Administer, maintain, and update organizational structures within the DIA-provided PRESS Production and Dissemination System.
  • Conduct tier-2/3 troubleshooting for PRESS systems, liaising with DIA software engineers to implement patches, fixes, and feature upgrades.
  • Maintain 24/7 reliability, high availability, and performance of ACE Section compute infrastructure and mission applications.
  • Execute systematic patch management, vulnerability remediation, and DISA Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) compliance.
  • Implement and validate routine backup operations, disaster recovery protocols, and system restoration processes.
  • Deploy network and infrastructure monitoring utilities to identify performance bottlenecks, disk thresholds, and availability risks.
