About The Position
The System Engineer II supports equipment in a Microsoft Windows environment, from design through implementation and ongoing support. The role installs, configures, and upgrades related hardware and software in LAN, WAN, and stand-alone environments. It also investigates, tests, and resolves issues involving systems, hardware, software, and infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Manage and monitor installed systems and infrastructure.
- Install, configure, test, and maintain operating systems, application software, and system management tools.
- Proactively maintain high levels of systems and infrastructure availability and stability.
- Monitor and test application performance, identify potential bottlenecks and solutions, and work with developers to implement fixes.
- Maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies.
- Write and maintain custom scripts to improve system efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
- Participate in designing information and operational support systems.
- Provide second- and third-level support.
- Coordinate with vendors and other IT personnel to resolve problems.
- Ensure change control and other processes and procedures are followed, and complete configuration documentation when systems are deployed or modified.
- Provide timely, clear communications to management and/or clients as appropriate.
- Participate in disaster recovery testing and planning.
- Partner with peers and management on informed strategic enterprise decisions.
- Research, recommend, and implement streamlined automation processes.
- Train and transfer knowledge to other team members to ensure continuity of knowledge.
