About The Position

As a System Administrator, you’ll join a top-notch team in support of NAVAIR’s new Simulators at Sea (S@S) system. This system increases aviator readiness and is the first integrated training capability for an air wing to deploy on a Navy carrier. Get in on the ground floor of an exciting DoD initiative!

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field is required. Additional years of experience as an IT technician supporting DoD classified networks may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Systems Administrator.
• Proficiency with Windows operating systems is required; experience with Linux is a plus.
• Experience managing DoD Host Based Security Systems (HBSS) is preferred.
• Strong working knowledge of vCenter/VMware is required.
• Demonstrated experience managing Domain Name System (DNS) performance and reliability.
• Proven experience implementing and maintaining local and group policies.
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Active Directory (AD) domain controller servers for managing authentication, authorization, and network resources.
• Knowledge of log aggregation and analysis across multiple sources.
• Familiarity with Windows PowerShell is preferred.
• This position will require the ability to successfully navigate shipboard stairwells and small, cramped spaces. May also require the ability to lift 20 pounds.
• Candidates must meet DoD 8140-M Intermediate level qualification requirements: BS degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or Software Engineering - OR - one of the following certifications: CompTia Security+, CompTia Cloud+, GICSP, etc. (click the link above for the full list). At a minimum, candidates must hold a Security+ certification (or higher) to be considered. Please upload copies of your relevant industry certifications.

Responsibilities

• Plan, test, and implement system upgrades to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
• Integrate new software applications within complex, mission-critical environments.
• Apply and maintain operating system security configurations in alignment with DISA STIG requirements.
• Identify and resolve system flaws, implementing technical controls to strengthen cybersecurity.
• Conduct vulnerability scans and assessments to safeguard systems from potential threats.
• Troubleshoot and resolve software issues within integrated environments to maintain seamless operations.
