About The Position

Halogen Engineering Group is seeking a System Administrator to support a large-scale Linux system. The role includes installing COTS/GOTS/FOSS software and supporting day-to-day operations, monitoring, and problem resolution across compute, network, memory, and storage components. The administrator will maintain system security integrity, configure network components, and implement operating-system enhancements to improve reliability and performance. The position is onsite in Annapolis Junction, Maryland, on the day shift. Travel is not required, and call-in support is required. A current TS/SCI clearance and polygraph are required.

Requirements

Fifteen years of experience as a Systems Administrator on programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university, or five additional years of Systems Administration experience in lieu of the degree.
Current TS/SCI security clearance and required polygraph.
Experience using the Linux command-line interface.
Experience developing scripts using Bash and Python.
Experience performing System Administration, including installation, configuration, and support of COTS/GOTS/FOSS software in a large-scale Linux cluster environment.
General technical knowledge of compute, network, memory, and storage system components.
Experience with Red Hat Satellite systems management.
Familiarity with Splunk for ingesting, indexing, searching, monitoring, and analyzing big data.
Experience sustaining and supporting large Linux clusters, including day-to-day operations, monitoring, and problem resolution.
Experience configuring and sustaining VMware ESXi or virtualization environments.
Experience with Infrastructure as Code principles and automation tools such as SaltStack and Ansible.
Experience with corporate STE/STN security compliance policies and procedures.
Experience using system monitoring tools such as HPE One View and Nagios.
Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker.
Security+ certification.

Experience with container orchestration technologies such as Kubernetes.
Experience with Atlassian Suite tools such as Jira and Confluence.

Responsibilities

Support implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of IT systems.
Identify, diagnose, and resolve Tier 1 and Tier 2 IT problems, including help desk and escalation issues.
Manage daily IT system configuration and operations.
Assist users with accessing and using IT systems.
Monitor and resolve problems involving client/server, storage, network, and mobile-device systems.
Communicate escalated ticket status to agency management and internal customers, and provide detailed analysis and feedback.
Optimize system operations and resource utilization, and perform capacity analysis and planning.
Support dispatch systems and hardware problems and remain involved through resolution.
Configure and manage UNIX, Windows, or other applicable operating systems; install and load operating-system software; troubleshoot systems; maintain network-component integrity; and implement operating-system enhancements.
Support the design of systems, mission architecture, and associated hardware.
Apply working knowledge of system-administration interdependencies within a Service Oriented Architecture (SOA).
Analyze and resolve complex problems involving server hardware, applications, and software integration.
Install, configure, and support COTS/GOTS/FOSS software in a large-scale Linux cluster environment.
Sustain and support large Linux clusters, including day-to-day operations, monitoring, and problem resolution.
