About The Position

Halogen Engineering is seeking a Software Engineer to design, develop, deploy, and support Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) solutions in a high-performance computing (HPC) Linux environment. The role involves working with Large Language Models (LLMs), LLM orchestration frameworks, knowledge retrieval systems, embedding models, and containerized applications. The successful candidate will use Python, Kubernetes, Helm, CI/CD automation, and secure SI system development to deliver scalable, production-ready SI solutions in mission-critical environments. The candidate will design, develop, test, deploy, document, maintain, and enhance complex software systems based on documented requirements. Systems may include processing-intensive analytics, novel algorithms, very large datasets, real-time systems, business management information systems, data repositories, data transport services, and application or systems development and monitoring. The work may be performed individually or as part of a team. Responsibilities also include reviewing and testing software components against design requirements, documenting test results, resolving software problem reports, and applying software development and design methodologies suited to the environment. The role contributes to system design decisions, including hardware/software trade-offs, software reuse, OSS/COTS/GOTS use, and requirements analysis. The position is onsite in Annapolis Junction, Maryland, on the day shift, with no travel required. Current TS/SCI clearance and a polygraph less than seven years old are required. The projected annual compensation range is $227,000 to $241,000.
