About The Position

Western is seeking an experienced SVP / Regional Retail Manager to lead retail banking across an assigned region of Western branch locations. This leader will build strong branch leadership teams, drive profitable growth through deposits, lending, referrals, and relationship banking, and ensure each location delivers a consistent customer and team member experience. The role translates retail strategy into daily execution by coaching managers, using performance data to identify opportunities, supporting community and business development, and maintaining safe, compliant, and efficient operations aligned with Western’s mission, values, and business goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, management, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • 10 or more years of banking or financial services experience, with significant emphasis in retail banking, branch banking, or consumer banking.
  • 5 or more years of leadership experience managing managers, multiple branch locations, or multi-site teams.
  • Demonstrated success leading sales performance, branch operations, customer relationship development, and team coaching.
  • Strong knowledge of consumer banking products, branch operations, retail sales management, internal controls, and banking compliance requirements.
  • Ability to travel regularly between assigned branch locations and markets, as the business needs require.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop Retail Banking Managers across assigned branch locations.
  • Set clear expectations for sales, service, operations, risk management, engagement, and leadership behavior.
  • Conduct regular branch and market visits, observations, performance reviews, and coaching conversations.
  • Partner with HR and executive leadership on staffing, talent planning, performance management, succession planning, and team member engagement.
  • Build an accountable, positive team culture that reflects Western's values and service expectations.
  • Own regional results for market specific business development plans, including but not limited to deposits, consumer lending, referrals, customer growth and other retail banking goals.
  • Use scorecards, branch performance data, and market information to identify opportunities and guide action plans.
  • Partner with Market Presidents, business banking, mortgage, treasury management, wealth management, and other teams to deepen customer relationships.
  • Support community outreach and local business development efforts that strengthen Western's presence in the market.
  • Monitor trends and recommend practical steps to improve sales, profitability, customer retention, and relationship growth.
  • Ensure customers receive consistent, responsive, and professional service across branch locations.
  • Reinforce Western Team Member Service Commitments and Customer Experience Essentials.
  • Coach branch leaders on relationship-building, service recovery, proactive communication, and timely resolution of escalated issues.
  • Identify service trends and partner with leaders to improve processes, coaching, and customer outcomes.
  • Maintain oversight of branch operations, internal controls, policy adherence, and regulatory compliance.
  • Review audit, operational, and compliance results; ensure corrective action plans are completed on time.
  • Reduce operational risk by reinforcing sound procedures, proper escalation, cash controls, account-opening quality, and good decision-making.
  • Partner with Operations, Compliance, Training, HR, and other teams to address risk trends and support consistent execution.
  • Execute retail banking strategies, new products, service changes, systems, and process improvements across assigned locations.
  • Communicate priorities clearly, manage adoption, gather feedback, and remove barriers that affect execution.
  • Collaborate across business lines to align regional plans with Western's broader goals.
  • Provide practical input to senior leadership on market needs, staffing, customer trends, and operational opportunities.
  • Participate in leadership meetings, committees, community activities, and special projects as assigned.
  • Perform other related duties consistent with the role and business needs.
  • Perform assigned responsibilities on-site.
