About The Position

This is a non-employee, unpaid, part-time, temporary internship position for current residents of the State of Colorado. The internship focuses on the long-term sustainability of the Colorado Certified in Public Health (CPH) Exam Review Course. The intern will participate in the Spring 2027 CPH Cohort, learn about the program through firsthand participation, and focus on areas such as financial assessment, cost-sharing options, and curriculum delivery model changes. The goal is to establish a self-sustaining review course to support public health workforce development and retention in Colorado. The Office of Public Health Practice, Planning and Local Partnerships (OPHP) will cover the $385.00 exam fee for the Certified in Public Health (CPH) exam upon successful completion of the internship.

Requirements

• Must be a current resident of the State of Colorado.
• Must be a current or recently graduated (within the past 3 calendar years) Masters student from an accredited college or university in Public Health.
• Must be willing and able to participate in the program from 1/4/2027 - 4/19/2027.
• Must be willing and able to take the professional certification exam.
• Must provide a completed State of Colorado application.
• Must provide a RESUME.
• Must provide a COVER LETTER describing how your educational experience aligns with the preferred qualifications.
• If using education to qualify, a copy of transcripts (unofficial acceptable) or diploma must be provided.
• If a veteran, a copy of your DD214 must be attached.

Responsibilities

• Lead the assessment, business model formulation, and potential operational re-design of the CPH Exam Review Course.
• Participate in the Spring 2027 CPH Cohort (January-May) to prepare for and earn certification.
• Focus on existing financial assessment, potential cost-sharing options, and potential changes to the curriculum delivery model.
• Develop a baseline report containing a SWOT matrix, an inventory of digital assets, and a per-person cost breakdown.
• Propose an options paper outlining employer-funded financing models for state and local agencies.
• Create a VMOSA-based strategic plan detailing action steps, assigned roles, and cost-saving strategies.
• Develop a revised program logic model mapping out program inputs, activities, outputs, and workforce outcomes.
