About The Position

This is an unpaid, part-time, temporary internship position for current residents of the State of Colorado. The internship is for 5 months, requiring 10 hours per week. The position is within the Office of STI/HIV/VH (OSHV) at the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE). The OSHV works to reduce the transmission of sexually transmitted infections (STI), human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), and viral hepatitis (VH) in Colorado, and ensures access to quality prevention, care, and treatment services. The intern will support the OSHV's social media and marketing efforts, focusing on communication with minority youth and all young people aged 12-22. This includes increasing visibility for educational campaigns, collecting feedback from target audiences, and contributing to educational messages. The internship offers hybrid work options at the supervisor's discretion and is based at 4300 Cherry Creek Drive South, Glendale, CO 80246. This is a non-employee position and no benefits are available.

Requirements

  • Must be a current or recently graduated (within the past 3 calendar years) Bachelor's or Master's student from an accredited college or university.
  • Major must be in Health Education and Promotion, with a focus on health communication or digital health and/or marketing.
  • Student transcripts must show coursework in social media advertising and STI/HIV/VH education.
  • Must be a current resident of the State of Colorado.
  • Must be willing and able to participate in the program for 5 months.
  • Must sign a Non-Employee Confidentiality Agreement.
  • If using the internship for academic credit, a Signed Affiliation Agreement is required between CDPHE and your University.
  • A pre-employment background check will be conducted.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, refine, and post informational and "trendy" Instagram content to the CDPHE OSHV account.
  • Assist with synthesizing content performance, focus group feedback, and leadership feedback to improve STI/HIV/VH education to Colorado youth.
  • Conduct a survey to collect the thoughts of youth and young adults in CO about existing Instagram content on the CDPHE_OSHV account.
  • Perform a detailed analysis of survey results.
  • Prepare a presentation for leadership with a proposal for future material.
  • Develop a strategic plan for how to move forward based on the collected results.
