About The Position

We’re looking for an experienced, dependable, and guest-focused Sushi Chef to join our team in Surprise, Arizona. You’re someone who approaches every plate with precision and takes pride in producing fresh, high-quality food. You thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume restaurant environment and can maintain accuracy, organization, and excellent service during busy shifts. You’re comfortable preparing sushi in view of guests, working with sharp tools, following food-safety procedures, and collaborating with both front-of-house and kitchen team members. Requirements

  • One to three years of professional sushi-preparation experience preferred.
  • Experience preparing sushi rolls, nigiri, sashimi, and specialty dishes preferred.
  • Strong knife skills and knowledge of sushi-preparation techniques.
  • Understanding of food-safety, sanitation, allergen-awareness, and proper food-storage practices.
  • Ability to prepare dishes accurately and consistently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and presentation.
  • Clear verbal communication and guest-service skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple orders and priorities during busy service periods.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
  • Positive attitude, dependability, and willingness to support team needs.
  • Valid food-handler certification meeting applicable Arizona and local requirements must be obtained within the required timeframe.
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and variable shifts based on business needs.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare sushi rolls, nigiri, sashimi, and specialty dishes according to company recipes and presentation standards.
  • Inspect ingredients for freshness, quality, and proper preparation before use.
  • Store, label, date, and rotate ingredients in accordance with FIFO procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and properly stocked sushi station throughout each shift.
  • Follow all food-safety, sanitation, allergen-awareness, and cross-contamination prevention procedures.
  • Provide friendly and engaging service to guests seated at or interacting with the sushi bar.
  • Answer guest questions about menu items and communicate allergy or dietary concerns appropriately.
  • Collaborate with kitchen and front-of-house team members to maintain efficient service and accurate order execution.
  • Monitor inventory levels and restock ingredients, supplies, and equipment as needed.
  • Complete assigned food preparation and opening or closing responsibilities.
  • Support the training and development of new sushi team members.
  • Maintain company standards for quality, portioning, consistency, and presentation.
