About The Position

The Sushi Chef is responsible for producing sushi for Food City’s in-store fresh sushi program. The role includes frequent, direct customer interaction during production and sampling, so the chef must work cleanly and in an organized manner in front of customers and be outgoing, friendly, and ready to answer questions.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age.
Ability to meet standard physical, mental, and visual demands.
Ability to understand and follow verbal and/or written instructions.
Ability to perform routine and repetitive tasks.
Ability to interact and maintain contact with individuals at various levels on a daily basis.
Ability to attend on-site work during scheduled shifts and adhere to company time and attendance policies.
Outgoing, friendly manner and willingness to answer customer questions.
Ability to work cleanly and in an organized manner in front of customers.

Responsibilities

Acknowledge, greet, and engage all guests.
Prepare finfish, shellfish, and fresh produce for use in sushi.
Prepare, test, and maintain food safety records for sushi rice.
Assemble, package, and label sushi, sides, and spring rolls for sale.
Prepare custom sushi rolls at customers’ requests.
Train and assist other Associates as needed.
Comply with Food City policies and procedures and applicable federal, state, and local food-safety standards.
Inspect products and maintain high product-quality standards.
Monitor ingredient and retail-package temperatures and shelf lives.
Keep the workstation and surrounding area neat and clean.
Maintain complete knowledge of the sushi menu and its ingredients.
Market the Food City Sushi Program through regular sampling.
Assist with ordering supplies to maintain minimum inventory and avoid out-of-stock conditions.
Assist with maintaining proper signage.
Communicate customer comments and requests to the Meat Department Manager.
Perform other duties as assigned.
