About The Position

Davis, Bowen & Friedel is seeking a Survey Party Chief to lead a survey crew and manage field surveys using current equipment and surveying technology. Surveyors collect measurements across a range of terrain and properties to support the firm’s architecture and engineering planning and design work. The role involves working outdoors at job sites in varied terrain and weather conditions, and solving field problems in adverse conditions using mathematical and analytical procedures. Requirements

Previous surveying experience, including boundary, topographic, bathymetric, and ALTA surveys and construction stakeouts.
Ability to work outdoors daily in all terrain and weather conditions at job sites.
Ability to lead a team and manage the performance of different types of surveys.
Ability to solve field problems in adverse conditions using mathematical and analytical procedures.
Attention to detail.
Ability to respond to client needs in a timely manner.
Ability to communicate ideas clearly, listen actively, and ask appropriate questions.
Ability to solve problems and make sound decisions.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or GED is preferred.
Experience using theodolites, 3D scanners, and Topcon field controllers.

Responsibilities

Supervise field crew members collecting measurements, sketches, and data for boundary, topographic, and construction surveys.
Communicate progress with project managers and survey supervisors.
Guide equipment setup and operation.
Lay out stakes for map-making.
Maintain crew safety and ensure the use of safety equipment.
