About The Position

The Surgical Technologist works in the Operating Room at Chelsea, where over 5,000 inpatient and outpatient surgeries are performed annually across various specialties including gynecology, orthopedics, ophthalmology, general surgery, otorhinolaryngology, podiatry, plastic surgery, and spine surgery. This role utilizes the principles and practices of surgical asepsis in preparing surgical instruments and supplies, maintaining a sterile field, and passing instruments to surgeons. The technologist anticipates surgeon needs by demonstrating knowledge of surgical procedures and human anatomy and physiology. The position is part-time, benefit-eligible, working 40 hours per pay period (every two weeks), with day shift availability. On-call requirements include being within 45 minutes of the hospital when on call.

Requirements

• Graduation from a certified surgical technologist program.
• Surgical Technologist Certification is required within six months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes the principles and practices of surgical asepsis in the preparation of surgical instruments and supplies.
• Maintains a sterile field.
• Passes instruments to surgeons within the sterile field.
• Anticipates the needs of the surgeon by demonstrating knowledge of surgical procedures and the anatomy and physiology of the human body.
