About The Position

The Certified Surgical Technologist provides patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse, using the nursing process and in accordance with Del Sol Medical Center’s philosophy, goals, and objectives. The role requires knowledge and application of sterile technique, as well as the instruments and supplies needed for surgical cases. The technologist works as part of the unit team, provides customer service to patients, visitors, physicians, and staff, respects patient privacy and confidentiality, and participates in patient care activities in conjunction with the Registered Nurse. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

• High school graduate or GED.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• One of the following credentials: Tech in Surgery – Certified (TS-C), Certified Surgical Technologist (CST), or Nationally Registered Surgical Technician (NRST).
• No experience required.
• No travel required.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate knowledge and apply sterile technique, including using the instruments and supplies needed for surgical cases.
• Communicate, interact, and participate in teamwork on the unit.
• Practice and endorse customer service skills when interacting with patients, visitors, physicians, and staff.
• Respect patients’ rights to privacy and protect patient confidentiality.
• Communicate and participate in patient care activities in direct conjunction with the Registered Nurse.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
