The Surgical Technologist functions as the scrub person and works under the direct supervision of an RN or physician to facilitate safe and effective care during invasive and operative procedures. The technologist helps ensure the operating room is safe, equipment is functioning properly, and procedures are conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety. The role also facilitates physicians’ performance of invasive, therapeutic, and diagnostic procedures. At Waukesha Memorial Hospital, four specialty-based teams work across 16 operating room suites, handling up to 40 cases in a day across specialties including cardiothoracic, neuro/orthopedics/dental, general/vascular/ENT, GYN, urology, and plastics. The operating rooms average 8,500 procedures annually and routinely perform da Vinci robotic procedures across more specialties than any other facility in Southeast Wisconsin. The OR suite includes a newly built Hybrid OR and a fully integrated minimally invasive robotic room. This is a 1.0 FTE, full-time position on the PM shift, scheduled 1300–2130. Extended shifts of 10 or 12 hours may also be considered. The position includes overnight call shifts 1–2 times per week, weekend call rotation once every 6–7 weeks, and holiday call 1–2 times per year. A $10,000 sign-on bonus is available.
