About The Position

The Anesthesia Technician works in the Operating Room as an integral member of the care team, assisting the RN and/or physician throughout procedures requiring anesthesia intervention. The role maintains clean, ready, organized, and adequately stocked anesthesia work areas and equipment; prepares equipment for invasive procedures; and assists the Anesthesiologist as needed. The technician also performs daily anesthesia machine checks and supports comprehensive, cost-effective patient care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association, or ability to obtain it upon hire.

Nice To Haves

• Completion of an anesthesia technician or surgical technician program.
• Previous anesthesia technician or EMT experience.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness, readiness, organization, and stock levels in the anesthesia work room, anesthesia workstations, and operating rooms, including restocking anesthesia medication carts.
• Prepare and assemble equipment required for invasive procedures and assist the Anesthesiologist as needed.
• Activate anesthesia machines daily, complete leak tests, and calibrate oximeters on anesthesia machines.
• Demonstrate knowledge of emergency situations and difficult-airway equipment.
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive patient care in a cost-effective environment.
• Apply working knowledge of anesthesia agents, reversal agents, analgesics, and anti-emetics.
