About The Position

The Surgical Technologist supports operating rooms across the Wake region as part of the regional Surgical Services Float Pool. Under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN), the role provides care to assigned patients and assists with direct patient care activities. Duties include preparing and stocking the Operating Room before and after surgery, gathering clean and sterile supplies, setting up sterile instrument fields, and maintaining and monitoring aseptic techniques. This position works four 10-hour shifts per week on days. The listed pay range is $25.30–$37.95. The position is eligible for a $5,000 sign-on bonus for candidates who meet eligibility requirements.

Requirements

Graduation from a Surgical Technology program or an accredited school of Nursing.
Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification is required.

Nice To Haves

Three years of experience is strongly preferred.
Certification in a specialty area is preferred.

Responsibilities

Ensure quality patient care, safety, and advocacy through critical thinking and anticipation and management of case-specific needs, under direct RN supervision.
Provide complete, accurate, and timely care, cleanliness, and management of instruments, equipment, and supplies.
Communicate effectively, positively, and professionally with the multidisciplinary team, coworkers, and patients.

Demonstrate cost-containment activities related to instruments and inventory.
Assist with direct patient care activities under the direction of the RN.
Prepare and stock the Operating Room before and after surgery.
