About The Position

The Surgical Technologist Extern gains hands-on surgical experience while working with the surgical team under the guidance of the Circulating RN and experienced surgical staff. The extern assists throughout the surgical process and helps maintain a clean, organized surgical suite focused on patient safety. Responsibilities include preparing the operating room, assisting with patient care, supporting the team during procedures, and helping maintain sterile conditions and infection control practices.

Requirements

High school graduate or GED.
Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) or BCLS Instructor.

Responsibilities

Organize and stock the operating room with instruments, supplies, and equipment to prepare for procedures.
Assist with patient care before, during, and after surgery, including transport, positioning, and comfort.
Support the surgical team during procedures by managing sterile instruments, passing tools, and helping with counts and equipment.
Maintain a clean, safe, and sterile environment through room turnover, restocking, and infection control practices.
Communicate clearly and compassionately with patients, families, and team members while protecting patient privacy and safety.
