About The Position

Join our multispecialty/general surgery team, which covers 15 operating rooms, one of which is a dedicated trauma room and 5 have robotic capabilities. The team covers general surgery, complex adult ENT, plastic surgery, breast reconstruction, gynecologic surgeries, urology, thoracic, podiatry, kidney and pancreas transplants, bariatric surgery, organ donation cases, and a variety of traumas as a Level 1 trauma center. Gain experience in a wide variety of surgical cases, learn to thrive in a fast-paced environement while maintaining high-quality care, and work with the latest technology in robotic surgery. POSITION SUMMARY: The Surgical Tech works under the supervision and delegatory authority of a surgeon to facilitate the safe and effective conduct of invasive and non-invasive surgical procedures, ensuring that the operating room environment is safe, that equipment functions properly, and that the operative procedure is conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety. The surgical tech recognizes significant conditions and reactions of the patient and notifies the appropriate patient care team as necessary.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Completion of a Surgical Tech program with the ability to sit for certification OR 2 years minimum working in a Surgical Tech role (for Surgical Technologist I)
  • Minimum of 2 years in a Surgical Tech role if completion of a Surgical tech program has not been completed (for Surgical Technologist I)
  • Minimum of 3 years in Surgical Technologist role if certified (for Surgical Technologist II)
  • Minimum of 5 years in Surgical Technologist role if not certified (for Surgical Technologist II)
  • American Heart Association CPR (BLS)
  • Surgical Technologist Certification or 5 years or more in a Surgical Technologist role (for Surgical Technologist II)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Solid computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft software.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to be detail oriented.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate the safe and effective conduct of invasive and non-invasive surgical procedures.
  • Ensure that the operating room environment is safe.
  • Ensure that equipment functions properly.
  • Conduct operative procedures under conditions that maximize patient safety.
  • Recognize significant conditions and reactions of the patient and notify the appropriate patient care team as necessary.
  • Intra-operative orientation to learn department/unit policies, procedures and work routines.
  • Develop competency in the use of medical equipment and instruments used in the procedure/operating room.
  • Learn quality/safety standards.
  • Gain an understanding of the various types of surgical procedures within their service line.
