About The Position

As a Surgical Technologist Extern at Medical City Plano, you will gain hands-on surgical experience while working alongside an experienced surgical team. Under the guidance of the Circulating RN and other surgical staff, you will assist throughout the surgical process and help maintain a clean, organized environment focused on patient safety. The role includes preparing the operating room, supporting patient care before, during, and after surgery, assisting the surgical team during procedures, and helping maintain sterile conditions and infection control practices. You will communicate with patients, families, and team members while protecting patient privacy and safety.

Requirements

• Vocational school graduate.

Responsibilities

• Organize and stock the operating room with instruments, supplies, and equipment to prepare for procedures.
• Assist with patient care before, during, and after surgery, including transport, positioning, and comfort.
• Support the surgical team during procedures by managing sterile instruments, passing tools, and helping with counts and equipment.
• Help maintain a clean, safe, and sterile environment through room turnover, restocking, and infection control practices.
• Communicate clearly and compassionately with patients, families, and team members while protecting patient privacy and safety.
