About The Position

The Surgical Technologist works in the perioperative arena at UF Health Leesburg Hospital OR and UF Health The Villages Hospital (Spanish Plaines Campus), supporting patient care across Central Florida. This is a 13-week seasonal contract assignment requiring three 12-hour shifts per week. The schedule is determined in partnership with the unit director, and float assignments are based on competency and skill level. Shifts are not guaranteed, though cancellations are described as unlikely. Applicants must be located within a 30-minute call window to Leesburg and Spanish Plaines. Former UF Health Central Florida employees must have been separated from employment for at least six months to be eligible for the Market Resource Pool. Under the direction of the Director, Manager, Charge Nurse, and RNs, the Surgical Technologist provides an aseptic environment in the perioperative arena. Surgical conscience is of utmost importance, and the technologist must be well versed in routine surgical and diagnostic cases. Compensation is a flat rate of $70 per hour for day shifts and $75 per hour for night shifts. Overtime is paid in accordance with FLSA based on a 40-hour work week.

Requirements

Post-high-school special training in surgical technology (CST).
Surgical Technology Certification required.
BLS required.
At least 2 years of experience as a CST.
Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
Must be located within a 30-minute call window to Leesburg and Spanish Plaines.
Former UF Health Central Florida employees must be separated from employment for at least 6 months to be eligible for the Market Resource Pool.
