About The Position

Baptist Health Lexington is hiring a full-time Surgical Technologist II for its Operating Room in Lexington, Kentucky, on the second shift, four 10-hour shifts per week. The Surgical Services Department includes Pre-Op, 20 operating rooms and scheduling support, a Postoperative Care Unit, Endoscopy, and Sterile Processing. A $15,000 sign-on bonus is available to qualified individuals.

The Surgical Technologist prepares and maintains the sterile field and instruments, supports the surgical team throughout procedures, and helps ensure the operating room is ready for scheduled cases. The role participates in rotating on-call coverage on weekends, weeknights, and holidays.

Requirements

• Technical diploma or associate degree.
• Completion of a Surgical Technology program.
• National Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; applicants who are not already certified must obtain it within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Prepare draping, instrumentation, sutures, and equipment for procedures.
• Aseptically set up and maintain the Mayo stand and back table throughout the procedure.
• Correctly count and account for all required items before, during, and after procedures.
• Anticipate the surgeon’s needs.
• Check instrumentation, equipment, and supplies before use in a procedure.
• Know the specific uses of equipment and supplies used for surgical procedures, and seek information and support for knowledge gaps before use.
• Plan, prepare, and function in emergency situations.
• Have the operating room ready before the scheduled case time.
• Assist with turnover and preparation for the next case by obtaining instruments, equipment, and other necessary supplies.
• Be in the operating room when the patient is brought in.
• Participate in rotating on-call coverage on weekends, weeknights, and holidays.
