The position involves a combination of Surgical First Assist Operating Room time and Medical Surgical Floor coverage, including daily rounding, managing orders, admissions, discharges, and consults, primarily with General Surgery, OB/GYN, and Orthopedic patients. The EMR system used is Epic.

Requirements

BS: Physician Assistant (Required)
PA-C - Certified Physician Assistant - National Committee on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
RPA - Registered Physician Assistant - New York State Education Department (NYSED)
Medium Work: Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects
Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting

Responsibilities

Surgical First Assist in the Operating Room
Medical Surgical Floor coverage
Daily rounding and progress notes on the Medical Surgical Floor
Managing orders, admissions, discharges, and consults on the Medical Surgical Floor
Working with General Surgery, OB/GYN, and Orthopedic patients
Covering approximately 5 calls per month
Providing floor coverage on Saturday/Sunday during scheduled weekend call
