The Surgical Services - Certified OR Tech / Surgical Tech (CST) position is in an Ambulatory OR setting. The role involves working a 10-hour shift, four days a week, from 6:30 am to 5:00 pm. While a scheduled day off is provided, it may be adjusted based on department needs, though special requests are considered. The position may require the clinician to float within the Periop facility to meet facility needs. Candidates should be well-rounded in specialties that align with the unit's caseload, which includes Ophthalmology, Ortho, ENT, GYN, GU, Endocrine, Surgical Oncology, Plastics, Robotics, Total Joints, and ENT. The unit does not handle general surgery, L&D, or pediatrics. The unit also has Preop/PACU rooms staffed by RNs and a PCT, with bays for pre/post patients, ORs, GI procedural rooms, and a VIR procedural room. Pre/post RNs are responsible for patient preparation, including reviewing history, reconciling medications, obtaining vital signs, EKGs, starting IVs, administering fluids/antibiotics, and PO meds. Recovery involves monitoring post-anesthesia patients, reviewing discharge instructions, and discharging patients. The unit cares for patients across various services including Orthopedics, Interventional Radiology (VIR), and GI. The pre/post RN collaborates closely with surgeons, anesthesia, and OR nurses to ensure safe and effective patient care in a fast-paced environment.
