About The Position

The Surgical Technologist Extern provides clinical services related to perioperative care of surgical patients, meeting the needs of patients, families, and significant others. The extern customizes care to each patient's needs, the surgical procedure, surgeon preferences, and care setting. Care is provided under the direct supervision of Surgical Technologists and registered nurses. This temporary position is designed to support the transition from student to graduate and to benefit both the student and the organization. The role is for surgical technology students only.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Currently enrolled in a recognized surgical technology program; surgical technology students only.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.

Responsibilities

Provide clinical services related to perioperative care of surgical patients.
Customize care to the patient's needs, surgical procedure, surgeon preferences, and care setting.
Provide care under the direct supervision of Surgical Technologists and RNs.
