About The Position
The Surgical Technologist Extern provides clinical services related to the perioperative care of surgical patients, meeting the needs of patients, families, and significant others. The extern customizes care for each patient and procedure, taking into account surgeon preferences and the care setting. Work is performed under the direct supervision of Surgical Technologists and RNs. This temporary role is designed to help surgical technology students transition from student to graduate in a way that is mutually beneficial to the student and organization. The position is for Surgical Tech students only and has 0 scheduled weekly hours.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Currently enrolled in a recognized surgical technology program; for Surgical Tech students only.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
Responsibilities
- Provide clinical services related to perioperative care of surgical patients.
- Customize care to the needs of each patient and surgical procedure, surgeon preferences, and care setting.
- Work under the direct supervision of Surgical Technologists and RNs.
