About The Position
The Surgical Access Coordinator 1 is responsible for scheduling and coordinating all aspects of patient surgeries and creating and submitting surgical encounters in Soarian for billing. The role obtains and verifies patient demographic and insurance information, obtains surgery authorizations, and works with surgeons to ensure procedure and diagnosis codes are accurate for billing. The coordinator works closely with supporting departments to ensure surgeries are scheduled and coded properly. The position practices Baptist Health’s mission of service excellence by providing professional, compassionate, and friendly service to patients and physicians. The estimated pay range is $18.15–$23.05 per hour, depending on experience.
Requirements
- High school diploma, certificate, GED, training, or experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of healthcare experience.
- Professional, detail-oriented team player with effective interpersonal communication and excellent customer service skills.
- Highly organized with the ability to multitask.
- Ability to communicate effectively with surgeons, patients, operational and clinical leadership, facility departments, and BHSF support departments.
- Proficiency in EMR, computer applications, and scheduling systems such as Cerner and Soarian.

- Surgery experience.
- Bilingual in Spanish.
